Project
| Project Team |
The SCA's project team consists of Dr Andy Watt, Robin Cole, Dave McWhirter and Alistair Chisolm. (see who's who) Close contact is kept with the SCA board and specialist advisers from slalom, freestyle, recreational, rafting and coaching.
Contracted leisure consultants PMR are funded by Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire and with a loan from Morrison Construction. PMR have a very good record with bringing sports projects to fruition. Their remit is to: draw together the feasibility work to make a presentable case to the funding agencies, including Lottery; and to start the process of funding applications as well as identify other sources of capital funding.

Costs of the project so far include £30,000 for the feasibility study (contributions from SEL, South Lanarkshire, Patersons of Greenoakhill and the Greenbelt company; and Scottish paddlers); plus other funds from SEL that kick-started the feasibility study. Current business plan and fundraising work is costing another £10,000.
| Water Quality |
The course would likely use the same water as the watersports centre, from the Loch - there have been very few instances of serious health problems in the 25 years that the Loch Watersports centre has been operating. There is an issue with blue-green algae, but regular measures are in place to control this. Additionally, it is feasible to operate the course with a self contained body of water is the water would simply be recirculated around the course. This sort of detail would be tackled in the detailed design stage.
